LIFE’S SO UNFAIR
We are living in a world so unfair, where kindness is rare,
A tale of temptation, I dare to share,
How can I steal the wealth of a helping hand,
When I never reached out, never took a strand?
You offered your heart, your open hand,
But I, lost in desolation, couldn’t understand,
The beauty within your selfless soul,
As I treaded a path towards a darkened shoal.
With pockets empty, I wandered and roamed,
Desiring to build a life of my own,
But your generous spirit, it tore me apart,
For I couldn’t see what you held in your heart.
The riches I carried, not in material form,
But in compassion, love, and the bonds that were warm,
I was blind to it all, lost in my illusion,
Yearning for riches, blinded by delusion.
Yet in the depths of your misguided greed,
A glimmer of hope, a chance to be freed,
For your offer to help was a mirror so clear,
Reflecting my weakness, forcing me to adhere.
To take from you now would be to take from myself,
but you robbed of my kindness, my soul’s greatest wealth,
For in the realm of treasures, money does fade,
But the bonds of connection forever cascade.
So I came to forgive you, dear friend, for your foolish desire,
To have stolen from a heart that could only inspire,
I’ll hold onto this lesson, deep in my core,
To appreciate kindness and tread cautiously, forevermore.
